NewsKlaxons sell out legendary LA theatreKlaxons performed for a sold-out crowd at the Los Angeles El Rey Theatre last night (July 10). The all-ages audience greeted the London lads with rapturous cheers and glow sticks when they took the stage at the hotly tipped gig. Dressed all in black, the quartet ran through several popular tracks from their debut album, 'Myths Of The Near Future'. "We're happy to be back here in LA for the third time," frontman Jamie Reynolds told the crowd. "We've only been here about 24 hours but you've made us feel most welcome." Highlights of the evening included the dramatic 'Two Receivers' and crowd-pleaser 'Golden Skans'. The band wrapped things up after only 45 minutes without an encore, looking a bit worse for the wear after travelling from Scotland where they played a rousing set at T In The Park at the weekend. Speaking to NME.COM after the show, keyboardist James Righton admitted, "I'm not sure this was the right room for us. But everyone seemed happy, and the older crowd got into it." Cold War Kids cover Radiohead Cold War Kids have recorded a cover of 'Electioneering', a track from the classic album OK Computer by Radiohead. The Californian indie stars got to grips with the song as part of the Stereogum website's project to get different bands to cover each song on the album, to mark the 10th anniversary of its release. "I'm not saying 'Electioneering' is the best song on the album," said lead singer Nathan Willett, "but it's certainly the most badass." Speaking about why he agreed to be part of the project, Willett said of OK Computer: "It is the single most important album to be released during my youth. I have never had an emotional connection with an album quite like I have with this one." You can download the track, as well as the other cover versions that complete the project, from the Stereogum website now. |
